The Midwest Cowboy
2006 · Real Talk Entertainment
Released July 11, 2006 on Real Talk Entertainment with Koch distribution, The Midwest Cowboy was the third of four solo albums Bizzy Bone released that year. Denver rapper and producer Dustin Robbins, known as Playalitical, produced all 15 tracks, giving the album a sonic unity rare in Bizzy's mid-period output. The G-funk-tinged palette and consistent R&B hooks frame the “Bizzy Kid the Midwest Cowboy“ outlaw persona across street narratives, love songs, and confessional cuts. Lead single “Thugs Need Love Too“ sampled Total's “Kissin' You“ and became one of his stronger indie chart entries. Robbins died in September 2020 at 38, after a period of drug use and mental health struggles following the death of his father.
